About Me (Curtis VanWye)
I shot quite a few weddings and commercial jobs from 1978 to 1987 when I lived in Kirksville, MO in addition to my day job as a photo-lab manager and promoting my fine-art photography. At one point I was shooting up to twenty five weddings a year. When I moved to Columbia in 1987 I started doing less and less until I got my job as Staff Photographer for Hubbell Power Systems in Centralia, MO in 1993. At that time I decided that I needed to concentrate my time on my new job and family, so for the last fifteen years I have only pursued my commercial and fine-art photography and stopped taking on weddings. In late 2006 my oldest step-daughter got married, and of course, I shot the photos. After doing that, I decided to start doing weddings again, especially since my youngest step-daughter was interested in photography and has turned out to be a good assistant and second photographer capturing alternate views and the shots that I am usually too busy to get. I was an early adopter of digital imaging, first by scanning film and now capturing directly with a digital camera. Over those years I have honed my computer imaging and design skills through my day job and and in the creation of my personal fine art images. I utilize that experience and skill in editing and designing the delivered product, the hard cover book that I offer as part of my wedding package. In addition I create a single composite image of various wedding images that is used as the inside cover of the book and can be purchased in any print size.
